How Many Driving Lessons Does The Average Person Need?
For new teen drivers, getting behind the wheel for the first time is a very exciting moment in their lives. We have all been there before, so we know it is exciting, yet nerve-wracking also. Some new drivers want to skip the whole process and get their driver's license, while others want to take it slow and be as prepared as possible for that driving test at the DMV office. Many students have asked Coastline Academy this question: how many driving lessons does the average person need?
Driving Lesson Requirements
In this country, not all states require new drivers to take a Drivers Ed course. Of the states that do require drivers education for new drivers, most require a certain number of behind-the-wheel training hours to be completed. This varies by state, but we have seen a lot of the states requiring at least six hours of BTW training with a professional driving instructor, like you would receive during driving lessons with Coastline.
Driving Lessons For The Average Person
At Coastline Academy, we base our lesson plans on that six-hour requirement. They can only be done in two-hour increments, so that is three driving lessons with a professional. Of course, that does not mean every person needs only three driving lessons. We all learn at different levels, so some may need more time with an instructor to feel comfortable behind the wheel.
Tooti, an Instructor/Training Manager here at Coastline Academy, suggested "new drivers should begin with a professional lesson, and then space those lessons between practice with another licensed driver. This provides the most effective way to build a solid foundation for safe driving practices. If any bad habits are picked up between lessons, they can be corrected before too much time passes."
The end goal for everyone involved is to get you to pass that driving test at the DMV. The average person may need three driving lessons to get there, but never feel pressure to stop at just three. Take your time, follow these Day 1 tips and learn everything you need to know during this crucial learning period.
