How Old Do You Have To Be To Take Drivers Ed In Missouri?
If you are wanting to get your driver's license, then you might be asking how old do you have to be to take Drivers Ed in Missouri? The Missouri Graduated Driver License Law has specific steps young drivers have to take, so find out the age here.
Getting Your Instruction Permit
The first step in the Missouri Graduated Driver License Law would be to obtain an Instruction Permit, which 15 years old is the eligible age and it is valid for 12 months. To obtain this permit, you must pass the vision, road sign recognition and written tests at a Missouri State Highway Patrol driver examination station. When going to the license office, a qualified person must go with you to sign a permission statement.
If you didn't notice, there is no mention of Driver's Ed in those requirements. Missouri is one of the states that do not require new drivers to take a driver's ed course. While there is no formal requirement for driver's education, it definitely would help you when taking the tests at the Missouri DOR.
Also, Missouri does require teens to have received 40 hours of driving instruction, including a minimum of 10 hours of nighttime driving instruction between sunset and sunrise, with a parent, legal guardian, grandparent, or qualified driving instructor.
The Answer: 15
While there is no requirement to take Drivers Ed in Missouri, you still cannot obtain your Instruction Permit until you are 15 years old. After passing the requirements at the Missouri DOR, you will have your permit and able to drive with a qualified person.
